What Kim Opposes*
Rep. Jason Kyle is the Republican incumbent in HD 8. Along with his supermajority pals, Rep. Kyle sponsored and voted for a number of bad bills that either did or would have limited the independence of judges, courts, and school boards. Our civics classes have taught us that the strength of our American government comes from having effective checks and balances. Utah's supermajority legislature is not healthy. It's time to make a change in the power dynamics. Elevate Utah placed Rep. Jason Kyle in third place on their BAD BILLS LEADERBOARD, due to his sponsorship of so many bad bills. The Alliance for a Better Utah has prepared this record of Rep. Kyle's votes in the 2026 legislative session. They gave him an F for his legislative efforts. In a debate over providing a standard wage on state-funded construction projects (HB245), Rep. Jason Kyle offered his opinion that "the real minimum wage is $0." With incumbents like Rep. Kyle, no wonder folks are having a hard time affording life in Utah. We can't just sit by and let the Republicans in Utah chip away at our democracy. This year's Legislative Session is over, but--with the 2026 General Election--we can change how decisions get made.
